Antique musical instruments: Seybold Piano accordion, France circa 1930
In the beautiful Alsace region, a local and stubborn genius persists and continues
to craft automatic accordions.
In the 1930's, while elsewhere mechanical music interests absolutely nobody, René Seybold finalises what will be his masterpiece. The Jazz Piano Accordion. The instrument plays just as well as a "musette" orchestra. The accordion has 9 levels of variation.
The piano and percussions are equally doted. The function works on a depression mechanism, following the same principle as reproduction pianos.
